Hi, my name is Janine Marsh ๐
Nearly fourteen months after starting learning to code, I am now learning about technical writing.
I was always a strong writer, and reader too, in formal settings like high school and college. There always seemed to be essays, articles, and reports to prepare. It's been years since then! These days, I enjoy journaling or writing off snail mail. Let's be real, most of my written content comes in the form of emails and tweets.
Twitter has been one of the best platforms for growth for developers, both in gaining a connected following and professionally. I've not only met thousands of others on a similar coding journey to mine, I've also glimpsed what is possible in the tech industry. It's dynamic and ever-growing, a trait that initially attracted me to making a career change.
Technology offers so many opportunities to learn a new skill, challenge yourself, and make money. One of those opportunities is technical writing. Just like with coding, I'd been curious to give it a try. It combined an older skill with a new passion. It was knowing where to start that was the hard part.
When I saw Hashnode was offering a free technical writing boot camp, I registered immediately and spread the word. What's the point of knowledge if you can't share it and inspire others in the process? I'm excited to share what I learn and to stay consistent with writing because, just like everything else in life, practice makes progress.
That's how I decided to take the plunge into learning technical writing ๐
